A Garden of Wonders

Dilmos, on via San Marco 1 in Milan, was founded in 1980 as a showroom for designer furniture. Emerging over time as a space for artistic design, it even has hosted Maurizio Cattelan’s first creations, whose table created in 1989, entitled Cerberino, is still on sale today. In 2015, Dilmos presented the exhibition “9 + uno” during the Salone del Mobile, featuring the 9 designers and the one artist, Pietro Consagra, whose “Mobile Frontale”, a limited co-edition with Dilmos, was on show. The exhibition can be considered a sort of manifesto, narrating a journey through the world of new creativity that, from the outset, has characterized the work of Dilmos. Alessandro Ciffo, Roberto Mora, Gianno Osgnach, Daniel Papuli and Andrea Salvetti are among the designers who began their career in Via San Marco 1. These artists, called to participate in the “9 + uno” exhibition, have been given carte blanche, leaving each of them the freedom to narrate their world with different materials, according to the inspiration of the moment.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
