Rosanna Orlandi’s Milan-based gallery never fails to surprise, and the recent G&G exhibition is no exception. The two Milanese artists who have experience in varying fields and prefer to remain anonymous, have elaborated on an idea that places the expertise of classic and modern masterpieces in front of playful childhood icons. G&G, with irony and levity, created small, theatrical representations enclosed in plexi-glass. The unexpected pairings include Mickey Mouse opening a trench coat in front Gustave Courbet’s “Origine du monde”, Popeye in front of cow carcasses in formaldehyde by Damien Hirst, and Olive Oil terrorized by Munch’s “The Scream”. They show their love of art through their enjoyment in making it playful.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
