Emanuel Babled was born in France, studied design in Milan, set up a studio in Venice to bring his sculpture to life, and has recently moved it to Lisbon. Despite having changed countries, we will see him soon at the inauguration of Milan’s new Venini store in November; Babled has created numerous vases for the Venetian company. He specializes in an organic approach, as if he wants the glass to take on characteristics that resemble marble or other materials. Many of his vases, in fact, are contaminated with marble elements. His vases are not fit for flowers, and instead, are “useless” objects, meant to be simply admired for their bold shapes and mix of materials.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
