Francesca Mo, a Milanese architect and designer, has, for years, dedicated herself to the creation of “poor” jewellery by using humble materials such as the shards of glass found on beaches and smoothed by the sea waves, set so as to take on the aura of precious stones.
Her unusual collections have metaphorical names; for example, Ice consists of clean cut glass parallelepipeds, similar to ice cubes; while for the series Intrecci, she sets interwoven colourful threads or scraps of fabric into yellow gold.
During the Salone del Mobile Francesca will herself showcase at the Jannelli & Volpi store her collections Clessidre, where she sets watch gears and Ice, Ludos and Intrecci; in addition, a selection of jewels from her collection Landscape will be on display in the exhibition “Geographies. Between art and design” (Poldi Pezzoli Museum, from April 1st to May 4th), under the curatorship of Beppe Finessi. An overview of all her collections will moreover be on exhibition at Antichità Sacco in Via Santa Marta, in the new Fuorisalone district Le Cinque Vie.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
