Objets Nomades
30 April 2015
25 June 2015
Inaugurated on April 22nd in the prince’s apartment at the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the exhibition, commissioned by Alcantara and designed by Giulio Cappellini, art director of the brand, together with Domitilla Dardi, design curator at the Maxxi in Rome, tells the story of a future-oriented company. It offers installations designed to introduce dissonant elements in the classical structure of the exhibition rooms.
The works by Gentucca Bini, Giulio Cappellini, Ingo Maurer, Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, Paola Navone and Nendo are deliberately intrusive; the designers were invited to try their hand with the innovative material, unique in its formula. The installations, included in the rooms as breaking points, disarrange the classical harmony, suggesting, as a counterpoint, the new identity of the versatile material.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
