A stone’s throw from Zona Tortona (one of the “hot spots” for Fuorisalone) and close to the Navigli ,the first urban Ikea store has opened. The shop is there for a limited time; it will delight the eyes and palates of the Milan people and tourists only until 30th September. In keeping with the theme of EXPO, which places food at the centre of everything, #IKEAtemporary in Via Vigevano declares its intentions by the means of a direct and explicit claim: “Because we’re curious about food. Are you?”.
With 1,400 square metres on two floors, #IKEAtemporary is a space dedicated to the kitchen, to preparing dishes and eating in general.
Already at the entrance you are greeted by wooden vases filled with herbs and vegetables, and once through the entrance, one is immersed in an “old Milan” courtyard with clothes hanging from clothes lines and white tables ideal for a relaxing break.
In addition to a mini-shop with 200 selected items, the exhibit of the kitchen Metod was created by four world-renowned designers along with food for thought on how the kitchen of the future should be, #IKEAtemporary is also a place for events highlighting the latest catering trends, a space for interactive cooking … and a bistro! That’s right: you buy here, you discover and you can enjoy excellent aperitifs and snacks at reasonable prices! In the best tradition of the Swedish chain, the legendary meatballs are available in the bistro, but here they are served in foil and in three flavours: classic, chicken and 100% vegetarian. Here there is truly something for every taste.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
