The FormaFantasma duo, Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, have returned to Milan from their Amsterdam studio to present their new collection “Anno Tropico” at the Peep-Hole Gallery (February 17-March 19) as well during the 2016 edition of MIART (April 8-10) in Milan. FormaFantasma’s new work centres around the functional and expressive qualities of light, and includes illustrations, models, videos and a series of finished devices, machinery that is pure geometry; the dominant shape is the circle, barely perceivable but used to magnify light and shadows. They are not so much objects, as “calligraphy”, designing thin traces of light and defining soft atmospheres that seem to have been taken from Junichiro Tanizaki’s “Book of Shadows”, published in 1933.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
