Artifices are defined as things made with mastery and brilliance; artisan products that are not only inventive, but sophisticated and perfectly executed. Much like fireworks, described as having an appearance that is, “vivacious yet superficial”, an artifice can also be considered a stroke of genius that effortlessly surprises, a kind of trick to acquire easy approval. I would like to introduce my personal meaning of artifice in this number, modifying the definition to “vivacious appearance and robust substance”. This definition is dedicated to those who employ intelligence, using ability and executive meticulousness, in the artisan process, creating pieces destined to remain in the history of the applied arts. They have been neglected by Italian critics, but are finding new footing thanks to the impulse of the new creative generation.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
