Llama Restaurant: the caliente Copenhagen zone

The Clown Vases designed by Pierre Charpin are on show (2015) at the Parisian gallery of artistic design Kreo. Pierre, a sensitive Parisian designer, was a collaborator in the 90’s at the study Sowden in Milan, named Designer of the Year at the Paris Furniture Fair in 2005. He has been a designer for Italian companies such as Alessi and Zanotta and for galleries devoted to artistic design, including Artistic Design Gallery in Milan and Kreo in Paris. In 2015, he created a collection of vases for the latter; the “Clown” are one of a kind pieces produced in conjunction with the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.
The archetypal forms in immaculate porcelain are decorated with clown faces, complete with a cherry red nose. Pierre, author of this ceramic makeup, claims to have made explicit reference to Fellini clowns. The rigorous Pierre Charpin, known for the consistency of his career path, reveals a neglected side of his talent with this project, a kind of creative sarcasm that ‘encourages’ him to emphasize the irony of life.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
