Over time he has honed his art, winning the confidence of art galleries and trendy boutiques, but nevertheless he has maintained a personal dark touch that, based on the contrast between coloured stones and burnished metals, renders his jewellery stunning. In his varied repertoire appear figurative elements, such as serpents coiled into loops around to baroque pearls and strange beings, a cross between animals and humans, articulated like dolls, to be hung round the neck with simple burnished chains.
Terry Castro has started selling his ornaments on the pavements of Soho in New York. His first creations were assemblages of objects he found that, despite being a hotchpotch of things of little value, already revealed an original decorative ‘ingredient’.
