It was fashion that led the way. Abandoned were the all-black, gray and greige, that mixture of beige and grey, hallmark of Armani, the herring bone pattern and buttoned clothes; the maison has started on the road of colour, patterns and figurative fantasy. Design, set aside the exactitude of the purist, follows that road, dressing furnishings and surfaces with patterned fabrics. Versace is experiencing a new moment of glory and exaggerates on its accessories with Meduse and cartouches. Palazzo Morando, also in Milan, hosts the exhibition “Jewels of taste”, a gourmet festival of jewellery inspired by colourful fruit, vegetables and pastries, while the Trajan Market in Rome dedicated a succulent display to the “The Elegance of food” by putting on show a series of outfits with food as the theme. The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
