It was fashion that led the way. Abandoned were the all-black, gray and greige, that mixture of beige and grey, hallmark of Armani, the herring bone pattern and buttoned clothes; the maison has started on the road of colour, patterns and figurative fantasy. Design, set aside the exactitude of the purist, follows that road, dressing furnishings and surfaces with patterned fabrics. Versace is experiencing a new moment of glory and exaggerates on its accessories with Meduse and cartouches. Prada opens its coffee house Marchesi in Montenapoleone in Milan, a ‘bomboniera’ (bonbonnière) lined with figurative wallpaper in shades of green that tones in with the velvet of the armchairs. Palazzo Morando, also in Milan, hosts the exhibition “Jewels of taste”, a gourmet festival of jewellery inspired by colourful fruit, vegetables and pastries, while the Trajan Market in Rome dedicated a succulent display to the “The Elegance of food” by putting on show a series of outfits with food as the theme. Making its debut in Paris is the total decoration of the new brand of furnishings BONOTTOEDITIONS. Fabric manufacturer Pierre Frey reveals himself as the flagship of refined decorative taste with his new collection, an explosion of colours and patterns.
