Classic, yet Imaginative

Valextra is a historic luxury fur company hailing from Milan. They won the Compasso d’Oro prize in 1954 for their classic briefcase, and continuously collaborate with designers and architects, including Martino Gamper’s recent installation and bag design. For 2017, it is Snarkitecture’s turn, with an installation at the Via Manzoni store. To celebrate a collection of white leather pieces with matching stitching, New York based Snarkitecture, who pride themselves on exploring the relationship between art and architecture, invaded the shop with light, white styrofoam clouds. The space is worthy of a fairytale and reflects their name, taken from Lewis Carrol’s poem, “The Hunting of a Snark”.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
