A project of Mike Murphy, a New Zealander specialised in the production of aquaria, the first and unique restaurant located five meters under the sea.
It goes by the name Ithaa Undersea and is one of twelve restaurants and bar on the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The construction begun in Singapore on May 2004, and five months later the structure was transferred to Rangali Island and anchored to the sea bed with sacks of sand weighing in total 50 tons (the project cost 5 million dollars).
The Ithaa (that in Maldivian means mother-of-pearl) is surrounded by a coral reef and, thanks to a 180° panoramic view, accentuated by the use of curved transparent acrylic walls such as those of an aquarium, allows one to enjoy the four-course menu ($320 per person), while surrounded by sharks, manta-rays and turtles. The Conrad has won notably 3 awards: Best Water Villas in the World, Best Suites in the World e Best Spa Resort in the Maldives.
Where: Conrad Maldives, Rangali Island, 20077, Maldives

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
