Located in what was once the ballroom of the former Queen Hotel, in a beautiful building dating from the nineteenth century, the Brasserie Blanc bet on a flexible environment, which adapts to the various moments of the day, should that be a café where you can read the newspaper first thing in the morning, a trattoria for a quick business lunch, a bistro for dinner but also a quiet place to enjoy a good glass of wine. The menu includes traditional French dishes – such as those once prepared by Maman Blanc – and the offer is completed with “the gouter”, the traditional snack after school-based on pain-au-chocolat and simple desserts organized every afternoon for mothers and their children.
Raymond Blanc, chef and owner of a restaurant chain, wanted to create rooms where customers could feel at home. The perfect environment had to be something informal and domestic, inspired by the past but without giving the impression of being slapdash. To achieve this goal for him the task was undertaken by the Blacksheep studio, the latter responsible for the concept behind Brasserie Blanc. The starting point for all the restyling was a refined inn in Cheltenham.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
