Insects, butterflies, lifelike dead birds and gold plated beetles; these are the subjects of the table sets and table decorations produced by a small porcelain factory in Limoges “Animals fabuleux”. The basic shapes of plates and glasses in white Limoges porcelain, are decorated with hyper-realistic miniatures of insects and butterflies as if they were sheets of drawing paper. Paradoxically, these minute and realistic depictions of insects, which in reality often cause disgust, when reproduced in the gleaming colours of porcelain, enchant and captivate, revealing how the naturalistic illustration has retained its magical fascination, also thanks to a virtuous execution that is experiencing great consensus.
