New York’s MAD is dedicating the exhibition, Forbidden Fruit, to the ceramic vignettes of Chris Antemann, running from September 22nd to February 5, 2017. The artist was invited in 2011 to Meissen in Germany to work alongside the ceramic artisans in a workshop focusing on limited edition series. The result is a collection of vignettes that focus on a renovation of the legendary tradition of manufacturing ceramic miniatures. Antemann created a 17th century, raunchy banquet, centering on a table-top romp involving many, and a series of cameos depicting tables strewn with delicacies and crowned with sensual, reclining women. The compositions are classic, but the pastoral feel has been replaced with an almost pornographic air, giving the pieces a modern, comic strip feel.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
