In New York, everything is larger, more flamboyant and more fascinating. Even the opening of a huge hub for public transport becomes an opportunity to make quality architecture and put a new milestone in the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan more than ten years after 9/11. The Fulton Center is located at 200 Broadway, in the heart of the Financial District. Designed by Grimshaw Architects and Arup, the building is an essential cube of glass and steel which leads to 5 subway stations (where as many as 9 different lines cross), but also to a number of shops and restaurants. Focus of the project is the giant Sky Reflector Net, designed by James Carpenter, overlooking the entire structure.
It is a kind of huge transparent oculus letting in the sunlight, which is reflected on 952 well polished aluminum panels that allow the sun’s rays to go deep. Thanks to this ingenious design the Fulton Center has received LEED certification for energy saving and, as a result, areas below ground level are airy and not claustrophobic, thus guaranteeing maximum comfort to the more than 300,000 travelers who pass though this magnificent urban crossroads each day.
WHERE: 200 Broadway New York (between Fulton and John Streets), NY 10038, USA.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
