Tra Arte e Moda

Issey Miyake’s Pre Fall 2016 collection was inspired by starry skies and galaxies, giving it an almost psychedelic effect. The clothes are in various shades of deep blue, burgandy, and jet black, and made with fabric specifically designed to show images, using chromatic layers, that seem to have been captured from a space ship. The “Baked Stretch” technology was used last season as well, and is obtained by superimposing colours in the inside of folded pleats. In the series of photo-jaquard, the “Steam Stretch” effect produced images that appeared to taken from Nasa rockets.
The effect is, instead, created by the Suminagashi technique, or the “marbling” of images. Along with the galactic references are a series of psychedelic patterns applied to classic pleats, which accentuate the clothing’s minimalist architectural construction, special effects in themselves.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
