Magis turns 40 in 2016, even though they are eternally young. They are driven by the desire to experiment with international designers, keeping their lively, playful attitude that led them to create the “Mee too” series for children. Alessandro Mendini wrote, “Magis’ exemplary history has been an ever-ascending one; a sequence of remarkable products, the precise choice of designers, up-to-date strategies, refined communication, and good industrial culture”.
The Centre Pompidou di Parigi celebrated the birthday with a strawberry cake (France is their strongest market), exhibiting some of their iconic pieces throughout the museum. They had an all-white stand at Milan’s Salone del Mobile, which highlighted the varying profiles and colours of the products set up on a staircase. The latest, designed by Ronan&Erwan Bouroullec, Konstantin Grcic and Jerszy Seymour, were displayed in the first row.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
