With over two centuries of history, the Hôtel du Continent is considered a Parisian hotel par excellence. Located just steps from the Place Vendôme, the hotel has recently renovated its interior designs of famous fashion designer Christian Lacroix. The designer has chosen to keep the original name of the hotel since it is engraved in marble above the entrance door and it was from this very engraving that the concept behind the restyling was developed.
Elegant, classic and ambitious, Hôtel du Continent offers a journey across the world. The six floors of the building are each a stop on this fantastic tour. The lobby and breakfast room are a summation of all continents, while the other floors are respectively dedicated to Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa, America and Antarctica (both the North and South Poles). The rooms are all different, both in terms of size and finish. The decorations and the iconography typical of the various regions literally dress any environment through the combination of bold wallpapers, fabrics, curtains and carpets. There is no anthropological intention, neither is there anything scientific in the suggestions and proposals in the reconstructions: the utopian universe created by Lacroix for Hôtel du Continent is inspired by travel writings of the nineteenth-century explorers, and by their drawings and engravings of said era. An artistic interpretation of yesteryear that plays on emotion.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
