Hunter & Gatherer is a new chain of Chinese restaurants and markets that feature farm to table selections. These old-style farms have crops that are naturally pollinated, rotated and harvested without additional pesticides. One of the restaurants, Shanghai Yanping Rd., is just a short distance from the revered Jing’an temple. TRIAD China studio designed the interior, transmitting the company’s values through the simple, clean style. A direct relationship with the earth has been interpreted not only through the use of natural wood, but the unique painted crates cum chandeliers hanging above guests’ heads.
Hunter & Gatherer promises to Chinese citizens to consider what they eat, and to consume local, non-treated ingredients. To help underline the direct connection between where a product is grown and where it is served, there is a video showing at the entrance, covering footage of the nearby Yangtai farms sourced by the restaurant. Guests can “technologically” participate in lifecycle of their food, from seed to table.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
