Monumental Sculptures of Studio Job

An evening out with friends can turn into a fantastic trip at the Adventure Bar in Clapham Junction, London. The lounge – one of four with the same theme – takes you on a tour of a parallel universe. The idea, developed by the brand design agency Mystery, is that of looking at the second half of the twentieth century through the eyes of a person from the Victorian era. In what way would the Victorians view what for us is “the past”? And above all … How would they use objects today considered those of everyday use? Playing with misunderstandings and creative solutions, the team of Mystery created two environments in different styles where the out-of-place and oddities reign supreme. The styles are Victorian Steam-Punk and Mid-Century Retro, assigned to the two areas of the Adventure Bar. One cannot miss the hairdresser helmets hanging from the ceiling like chandeliers, or the collection of paintings made with turntables and vinyl! The adventure continues even when you order a cocktail, since the names are an adventure in themselves; choose from fancy drinks such as Monkey Midget, Ziggy Stardust or Umpa Lumpa.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
