Santoni is a footware company from Corridonia, in the Marche region, that specializes in refined, handmade shoes for men and women. They are known for their use of fine leather and elaborate details that require expert skill. The 2017 Spring/summer collection is a repertoire of laborious decorative methods, including coloured leather weaving on wedges, openings that make the uppers look like lace, fringe, and metallic decorations like washers and appliques. Every pair of sandals is a work of art, using an array of bold colours that range from midnight blue and bright green to tobacco and orange. As stated in the title, “Shoes: Pleasure and Pain”, from last year’s exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, shoes are as pleasurable as they can be painful. Santoni’s towering high heels are worth all the suffering.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
