Miuccia Vases by Cristina Celestino
30 January 2015
14 January 2016
In the year dedicated to relations between Korea and France (2015/2016), an exhibition entitled “Korea Now” will run from September 19 2015 to January 3, 2016, at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. This year dedicated to the encounter of the two country’s cultures has provided the occasion to discover the Korean culture of design, fashion, and graphics, based on a fruitful relationship between the contemporary and historical roots. The exhibition is divided in three sections dedicated to the respective areas, and presents an extraordinary repertoire of fashion and design creations. They reveal the refined Korean ability to unite the project’s future with traditional artisan practice, bringing forth classical styles in creations of concise modernity.
The series of ceramic vases in minimalistic shapes and sophisticated palettes are not to be missed, as well as the sublime plexiglass tables in pallid, pastel colours, cut using ancient woodworking motifs. The area dedicated to fashion highlights the evolution of the traditional Korean organza ecru kimono to modern creations that are making a large impact with their style, manufacturing, and imagination.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
