A design state of mind

In 2013, again for Ingo Maurer, he created My New Flame, a project that was immediately added to Moma’s permanent collection. His experiments, bridging art and technology, reveal an original ability to create magic with virtually immaterial light. As if by magic, Moritz Waldemeyer recreates the flickering of classic candelabras with thin strips of LED, making futuristic lighting effects classical. His lighting wonders bolt through space, almost as if shot from a magic wand.
Moritz Waldemeyer has made himself known to the fashion and design world with his magical illuminations. He debuted in 2004 with an interactive lamp created with Ron Arad for Swarovski. He has collaborated with Zaha Hadid, Hussein Chalayan, and participated in Moma Design and the Elastic Mind. He is known in Milan for his magic LED lamp, present in Ingo Maurer’s exhibition area, in the Krizia space.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
