The Heller Gallery in New York bears witness, with its regular exhibitions devoted to designers of glass, (mostly from the United States), to a special predilection for this magical substance. The carnet of its designers is varied and all show a highly original approach to the material, adopted for both its transparency and to ensure its effects similar to those of gems or precious stones. Among its designers Luke Jerram stands out, for the oddness of his subjects. Among them deserves to be mentioned, as well as for the virtuosity of the workmanship, the “Glass Microbiology” series that reproduces, in transparent blown glass, bacteria and microbes as they are observed under the microscope. The transparent glass blow-ups of bacteria reveal an unusual and fascinating repertoire of forms, to be considered, to all intents and purposes, decorative.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
