The Museum that never closes…is now open

In London there is a true paradise for those who love shoes or, rather, for those who obsess over them. It is called Shoe Heaven and is located inside Harrods. This fantastic place is a collection of all the most exclusive brands of footwear; and the Manolo Blahnik showroom could not be missed. Manolo is the acclaimed “fetish” designer sought by women around the world, responsible for Carrie’s shoes in the famous TV series Sex and the City.
If owning a pair of “ManoloS” is the equivalent of dream come true for the most avid shopaholic, visiting the new London store is also a fantastic experience for lovers of interior design and architecture.
Designed by the Nick Leith-Smith Architecture + Design studio, in close collaboration with Mr. Blahnik himself, the store recreates a fin-de-siècle home environment made contemporary by the bright colours chosen for the upholstery and by the draperies chosen for the silk lampshades and immense chandeliers, which give rhythm to the space. The absolute stars are obviously the shoes, exhibited like jewels on specially crafted display stands, which are placed on minimal wooden shelves lining the walls. In such a jubilation of shades and fabrics, it is impossible not to be moved…

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
