A case for keeping it light

The doors of the neo-renaissance Palazzo Turati, on Via Meravigli, are opening thanks to a Dutch design, artisan and shop collective, curated by Nicole Uniquole. The building has a rusticated façade, inspired by that of the Palazzo Diamanti in Ferrara, and features luxurious interiors, frescoes, velvet tapestries, mirrors, and stucco work. The central courtyard was decorated with multi-coloured tulips for the occasion. A broad collection of contemporary Dutch works were exhibited in the various rooms, offering a range of current design, including objects, furnishings and textiles, as well as fashion accessories and clothing. The unexpected resonance between the rich, traditional interiors and the vast variety of projects, created a unified choreography that had a strong aesthetic impact that reverberated through the creations, highlighting their qualities and emphasizing the continuing study of a dialogue between past and present.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
