Materials_Matter_of_Perception_by_Damn_and_Mosca_1

The Belgian design magazine Damn and Mosca Partners have occupied the historic Palazzo Litta on Corso Magenta, bringing together a number of international designers and architects whose creations want to emphasize the influence of materials on inspiration. The courtyard of the palace has been converted into an ‘agora’ intended as a debating place, while the rooms on the upper floors have hosted, among gilt and mirrors, various exhibitions, playing on the contrast between the courtly space and aesthetics both primitive and poor. Emblematic of the exhibition “Aesthetics of misery” by Andrea Branzi and Michele de Lucchi which proposed models of ‘favelas’ and emergency shelters, created in collaboration with students of the Milan Polytechnic and set up in the hall of mirrors.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
