Architecture… in the dog house

La Stagione Disobbediente
Ongoing at the V&A in London, the strategic centre of the design festival 2014, is the courageous show Disobedient Objects: objects and symbols of protest confirm the eclectic and brave vocation of the unparalleled museum of applied art in London. Disobedience is the main theme of this edition. We find it in the daily ceramic accessories that contradict the conventions of etiquette and good taste. A provocative wind blowing over the table that comes from different countries, such as Ukraine, England and Italy.
The Ukrainian designer Maria Volokhova proposed to the Parisian Maison&Objet September Fair in Paris an irreverent zoomorphic and anthropomorphic collection of white porcelain with traditional gilding. It made its debut at Maison&Objet also a set in white ceramic inspired by the rough world of carpentry: oversized screws and bolts become candlesticks, pudding moulds become cups… From London arrives a ceramic skull with sexy pictorials, proposed by Alex Garnett in the collective Designers Block, hosted in the decrepit space of a former courthouse during 100% Design.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
