In the fifties Paolo Venini created for his brand, in the furnaces in Murano, the table obelisks in coloured glass, now belonging to the Marco Arosio collection. Away from the soft roundness of his classic vases, rigorous geometries and sharp profiles, which today appear absolutely modern, reveal unexpected similarities with the series of souvenirs in methacrylate on show in fall at the MAD (Museum of Arts and Design) exhibition of the Makers 2014 by Russian designer Constantin Boym, a long time New York resident. With the touch of irony that always distinguishes his work, Boym has stylized silhouettes of some of the American monuments, reproducing them in miniature, in glossy and loud colours, inaugurating a season of design for souvenirs.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
