With his collection of copper crowns, plated in silver and gold and decorated in crystals, agate, amethyst and pearls, Onik Agaronyan brings us back in time to the days of courts, dames and knights. Born in Yerevan, Armenia, and a resident of Los Angeles, as boy he began delving into the decorative arts, working in an antique store, which he later inherited after the owner’s death. Being in contact with precious, handmade historical objects helped him shape his talent and refine his aesthetic sensibilities. His creative debut was in 2012 with a collection of copper boxes that represent different animals, “Inside the Beast”, where rhinos were the masters. The series “Kings and Queens”, from 2013, features crowns destined for a new set of boxes, this time, shaped like skulls. His gothic fantasies, characterized by virtuous construction, allude to the dark side of fairytales.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
