Artist Residence: small London pearl

F.lli Boffi is a company that specializes in eclectic design, retracing the history of furnishings in a unique way. Their 2016 collection features reinventions of classic shapes, and was unveiled in a stand defined by its distorted wainscoting, designed by Analogia Project during the Salone del Mobile. Some of the pieces include “Triclinia”, a sensual chaise in grey velvet, or the “Kir Royal” ottoman covered in trimmings. There are classic, contained armchairs, upholstered in floral patterns, for the bedroom, and table lamps inspired by oil lanterns. “Trito”, a round, marble-topped table with a thick, wooden base carved into fish, demonstrates their expert woodwork, as does “Rebus”, designed by Analogia Project. The surreal console is framed in a bronze cube, in which a finely chiselled wood figure creates a play on perspective from every angle.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
