As their name suggests, Retro Revo is all about vintage looks. Located on Anfu Rd., one of the most stylish shopping streets in Shanghai, Retro Revo sells furniture designed based on old items and manufactured in India. The store itself is stunning enough – decorated with brushed concrete floors, whitewashed brick walls and huge front windows opening onto a terrace to bring more lights inside. The interior design goes very well with the furniture pieces most of which are inspired by the early 19th century mass-production boom. Despite their vintage looks, most pieces also meet the requirement of modern lifestyle. The British founders see a growing demand for industrial chic-style furniture in China. “China missed the industrial revolution. Thus we are bringing it back”.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
