The Salone Satellite is a tried and true window into young designers’ latest creations, offering ideas from around the world. The exhibitors represented the zeitgeist of contemporary creativity, with a panorama of varying works that span differing styles and trends. We are bringing you an initial selection of this varied inspiration. Chris Basias presented circular lamps decorated in graphic patterns, and floor lamps that resemble chess pieces. A former student of the Istituto Marangoni, Gustavo Martini, presented an elegant existens in black metal and linear geometric patterns, and Gennaro Comunale showed his geometric table lamps made of PVC. Last but not least, Jiwonxkim featured the Salamandrina project, a series of multicolored, animal-shaped carpets made of wool and cotton. The salamander, toad chameleon and sea-lion shaped rugs represent a true rebirth of pop.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
