Matteo Cibic, nephew of Aldo, an important figure in Italian design and a founding member of the Memphis group, has followed professionally in the footsteps of his uncle, taking his own autonomous and irreverent path. He became known at his debut through a series of erotic objects, continuing with an amusing line of unisex trousers, then moving to a complete set of furniture for the new Indian brand Scarlet Splendour.
The collection, born almost as the result of a bet, demonstrates Matteo’s ability in combining Indian and Western traditions. The result is a series of furniture and lighting fixtures, characterized by an unusual decorative imprint, in which one recognizes Indian styles, but also unexpected drifts, almost pop.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
