The decorated walls immediately give off a sense of warm domesticity. The widespread desire for a warm house inspires the return to the use of wallpaper, to include also the walls in the new decorative taste. Decorated walls create atmosphere, as evidenced by two recent examples: Cabana magazine’s stand, the upscale periodical by Martina Mondadori, at the Miart, an angle with unforgettable shelves, thanks to retro-flavour wallpaper by Pierre Frey and the bar of the Prada Foundation conceived by director Wes Anderson, now cult, because of its retro atmosphere, to which contributes the intensive use of wallpaper.
Star of the decoration of walls and lining is the historic French textile manufacturer Pierre Frey with his varied catalogue of fantasies inspired by the most diverse themes, motifs including African patterns and naturalism painting, hyperrealism, and geometries. The distinctive character that makes his decorations special is the obsessive repetition of the pattern, that crowd each other, almost as if having the urge to fill every space to create a fast pace.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
