The Tamarind Kitchen and Lounge in Bali is steps away from the Indian Ocean. It is part of the 5 star Nusa Dua Hotel and Spa, located on the southern part of the island. The Tamarind lights up the beach, and is a perfect addition to the surrounding area. The sinuous architecture features an almost sculptural building made of bamboo. ARA Design Asia, in collaboration with Penjor Bali Mandiri, created a contemporary interpretation of traditional technical construction. The material is ages old, but the architects knew how to differentiate the building by using their creative talents. The restaurant specializes in Indonesian cuisine, and is spread over two floors that can seat up o 150 guests. All of the furnishings and interior structure, down to the decorative details, are in bamboo. The ceramic covering on the bar and kitchen area is the only source of colour. The tiny, iridescent polygons imitate the reflections of the near-by sea.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
