Our review of figurines and miniatures would not be complete without the American artist Nick Cave’s dancing cloth sculptures. This is not the first time we have reported on Nick, who performs in art galleries or the great outdoors, partaking in tribal dances wearing costumes made from common, oddly-paired objects including spinning tops, scraps of coloured fur, straw hats, crochet and patchwork quilts… Thanks to his explosive imagination, he transforms himself into a new character, or rather, a living work of art, breathing life into his assemblages. His exuberant work the insistent reference to tribal dances and other art forms based upon recovered objects that, as the sociologist Michel Maffesoli has stated, become interpreters of contemporary Dionysian rites.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
