“People watching” is a passion that knows no boundaries. Everyone, sooner or later, finds him- or herself unconsciously watching the world go by on the street and scrutinizing the styles, expressions, and hairstyles of passers-by. Perhaps it is to cater to this (harmless) human weakness that the dining room at the Bronda Restaurant in Helsinki has an entire side in glass overlooking the adjacent street – or perhaps the team Futudesign, responsible for the interior design, just wanted to make the most of the huge window to maximize the light in the room.
The Bronda is a cocktail bar and a brasserie serving Mediterranean food infused with Finnish flavours. At the entrance is the bar where the drinks are prepared, while the actual restaurant occupying the greater part of the space features a warm parquet floor and seven meter-high ceilings. The furnishings, made of natural wood and Scandinavian in style, were designed ad hoc by Futudesign, who were also the creators of the chandeliers “with the network” that give rhythm to the whole environment. Open late, the Bronda Restaurant welcomes everyone at any time and no reservation is required. The owners ensure: “One can always find a table”!

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
