To give a new identity to a small artisan bakery/patisserie in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, architect David Guerra was inspired by European bars “of the past.” Vintage aesthetic details and strong colours are combined in the 70 square meters of La Galette, a little gem of sweetness where you can take a break, far from the traffic of the metropolis. The interior space and pleasant outdoor area are united by the same furniture: metal chairs painted green and small tables with wooden tops, all from the former store. Also recovered were the refrigerated showcase and the gypsum recessed lamp. They are, in fact, examples of ingenious “creative recycling” the chandelier made from reused mason jars and the golden wall cabinets, created by the union of different doors styles repainted with a golden tint.
WHERE: Av. Prudente de Morais, 1330 – 13 – Cidade Jardim, Belo Horizonte – MG, 30380-252, Brasile

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
