The Kartell museum in Noviglio (Milano), renovated by the skilful Ferruccio Laviani, has opened its doors to the public with a poetic installation by the artist Stefano Arienti. A chronological exhibit spanning 65 years of Kartell, recounts how a grey polymeric powder can be transformed into original creations, valuable for both their transparencies and colours. The objects, furnishings and plastic lighting fixtures that make up the exhibit are displayed with great care and expertise in the windows and on pedestals. The chronologically arranged installation, as well as representing an important chapter of Italian design, illustrates the miracle of plastic: an opaque dust that, thanks to the techniques of moulding, quickly takes on different shapes, assuming colours of many hues and acquiring the transparency of glass and the sheen of gold and silver.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
