The work of certain expert stylists sets simplicity and practicality aside and favours theatrical expression, so that the garmet is almost a costume, evoking a range of emotions from sacred to profane. Vahan Khachatryan, a young fashion designer who debuted during autumn edition of Super, a fair dedicated to women’s clothing, accessories, and knitwear, organized in Milan by Pitti, creates for a woman who is either a saint or a courtesan.
Born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia, he was inspired by his artistic family even in his early years (his grandfather was a painter). In adolescence, inspired by fashion, Vahan began to design clothing for his girl friends. Thanks to his original, elaborate design, which is filled with echoes from his homeland, he has become well-known in Armenia and soon hopes to conquer our shop windows with his exacerbated romanticism.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
