All the splendor of the Grand Ferdinand Hotel
26 November 2015
10 April 2016
Cristina Celestino is a sensitive furniture and objects designer, and will be presenting two projects in collaboration with two very different industrial companies at the Salone del Mobile 2016: Tonelli design is a company from the Marche region, specializes in hand-welded glass furniture, and Bottega Nove, a Venetian-based manufacturer of mosaics in ceramic and porcelain. She created a series of iridescent tiles with intricately designed feather motifs for Bottega Nove (for whom she is also the Artistic Director).
For Tonelli she designed the Opalina collection, including a dressing table, writing desk, mirror, coat hanger, and stool, made of rounded opalescent glass. This material is widely used in design objects, this is a first for the furniture world; the thick plates, pained or frosted, have an unusual translucent and silky effect, making each of the pieces’ profiles almost “soft”.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
