Bienvenue 21
24 March 2016
10 April 2016
To honour the exhibition for the XXI Triennale dedicated to women designers, curated by Silvana Annicchiarico, we present one of the Elena Salmistraro’s new projects. The prolific designer and one of the stars of the exhibition has the ability to unite innovation and rigour with irony and playfulness in her design projects. Among her latest creations are a series of glass, porcelain, wood and cork lamps inspired by Morandi’s vases, painted in the same soft colours found in his works, they are being manufactured by Seletti. They have a covering made of Jacroki, a fabric made from natural fibers and recycled paper, produced in Okinawa, Which Elena has used like paper. The banal glass vases acquire an uneven surface, much like crystal. The vases can change their “garment” according to the occasion or bouquet, can be placed in the washing machine on the delicate cycle; every change gives it a new look.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
